During July we were contacted by a member of the US navy who had visited the Napoli Underground web site and been bowled over by the details of our subterranean world.
Following the first contact, rendered tortuous by our reciprocal difficulties in communicating, his Italian is as non-existent as my English, we managed to speak with the help of a translator.
Michael Pulley, a journalist at the Gricignano base, was anxious to make a programme about the Naples Underground for their television service.
We took him on a short trip underground, visiting two cavities, and his enthusiasm was …
immediately evident. In spite of a thousand difficulties, we managed to pass on to him something of our passion for urban speleology.
During the excursion he made some video footage, and today I have received a CD containing a short clip.
The sound is obviously in English but one can tell from his voice his appreciation of the living experience.
Ciao Michael - we are happy to have been of service;
You can download Michael Pulley's video here.
