I, our guide Vasiliy and Vladislav went to the catacombs in the night. Vasiliy is one of the experts, who know the Paris catacombs very well. He told me, that the night is the best time for visiting catacombs – because in a day time people can see us and call the police.

There are several entrances to the catacombs, many of them are wells. We used the most comfortable entrance, which Parisians like to use more – I think that I must keep a silence and don’t tell about this entrance (were it is dispose) in Internet…

This  catacombs (limestone quarrys) very large and dispose under southern part of Paris – southerly river Sena. In the north part of Paris there are some small gypsums (plasters) quarrys.

We walked in the long underground tunnels (gallerys), somewhere with water. This gallerys were built in XVII c. in order to connect many small quarrys under Paris streets according with edict of the king Ludovik XIV. Most quarrys were built in Middle Ages, befor the XVII c. Some part of catacombs – quarry, remind me underground quarrys near Moscow. Long gallerys which connected quarrys in to one large underground system look endless. In the walls of this gallerys we could see inscriptions from time to time – names of the streets which dispose above us.

Paris  catacombs about 25-30 m deep – deeper than metro. Once we heard the metro train.

In catacombs we met some people – Parisians catathailes and one black dog. The dog looks in the dark like monster, with fluorescent eyes.

In the end of the night we went back. I like the trip very much and hope to visit Undergraund Paris again.
