Tipology: museum - Center for Applied Technoloy and Cultural Heritage.
Description: The MAV museum is in Ercolano in the immediate vicinity of the archaeologial site of ancient Herculaneum. It is certainly the most avant-garde such cultural facility in Italy. MAV contains more than 70 multimedia installations that recreate the most important archaeological sites in the Campania region. Visitors can feel and see what it was like to live around the year 79 AD in Pompeii, Herculaneum, Stabia, Baia and Capri--and then experience the famous eruption of Vesuvius. Holograms, multi-sense reconstructions and 3-D projections all make the scenes particularly authentic and exciting.
