Naples, the city of sun par excellence has, of course, always had a special relationship with her underground spaces--better, with reworking them such as to make them often livelier and brighter than surface structures. This ability, shaped by centuries of ancient legends that tell of Cimmerian origins (a mythical people said to have lived underground), seems to be a natural partner for the local sense of artistic creativity and has produced a blend of underground darkness and avant-garde contemporary art to produce an explosion of absolute fantasy.
We'd like you to take a look at an excellent documentary, produced by RAI (Italian Television) as part of the series "Italy: A Trip through beauty 2015". This particular segment is called "THE ART STATIONS OF THE NAPLES METRO", in which you will see a number of spectacular sculptures and other art works in place at some of the stations of the new Naples Metro underground #1 train line. They stations are, by general consent, some of the most beautiful in Europe.
The documentary is very well done, lasts 40 minutes, and is completely subtitled in English.
It is wellworth a look.
