Another speleological resource from our original site has been reactivated and is available now on this new site. This database is very complete and allows researchers to take a vicarious trip beneath the streets of Napoli seeing the huge quarried cavities, tunnels, aqueducts, ancient Greek hypogea, WWII underground air raid shelters and more. Details, links to available photos and other information, in Italian, are contained in each record in varying states of completion depending upon survey details. To use the database, visitors are required to register as a Napoliunderground member, choose a password, then follow Log In instructions. Once logged in click on DataBase Cavità, (see link below) to begin to explore. The database is searchable using catalogued Cavity Number, address of entrance to the cavity, city ward it is beneath, an other available identifying locators. The database was compiled from data obtained from the Southern Speological Society, CSM, and from our gracious friend and dean of Naples urban speleology, engineer, Clemente Esposito. The database is a work in progress and we hope to continue with detailed updates of recent new explorations, underground surveys and discoveries we continue to make. We also always appreciate any additional information our friends may make available to assist us in telling the incredible story of the Naples Sottosuolo, or underground. Here is the link to access - The Cavity DataBase
